Classroom Paraprofessional
Job Description
Qualifications: Classroom Paraprofessionals will hold a High School Diploma or GED.
Length of Contract and Hours: A Classroom Paraprofessional will work approximately 177 Days per calendar year and up to 29 hours per week.
Immediate Supervisor: A Classroom Paraprofessional will report directly to the Building Principal.
General Job Description: A Classroom Paraprofessional, or Teaching Assistant, is responsible for providing hands-on support to a Teacher when preparing lessons or teaching students in the classroom. Their duties include helping with behavior management during lessons, tracking a student’s grades and behavior and setting up classroom materials before class. Paraprofessionals strive to form interpersonal relationships with each student to help them feel more motivated about classroom achievement.
Specific Job Functions:
Athletic Director:
- Assist Teachers in classroom activities.
- Work with students inside or outside of the class as directed by the teacher.
- Supervise students in school-related activities.
- Possess the ability to work closely with children.
- Must possess excellent teamwork skills and the ability to remain calm and patient at all times.
- Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior.
- Get materials and equipment ready to help teachers prepare for class and help keep records for grading and attendance.
- Reinforce lessons by reviewing material one-on-one and in small groups with students.
- Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept.
- Perform personal care and hygiene tasks for special education students. Implementing certain educational support services for special education students, as directed by the teacher.
- All other duties as assigned.
