Custodian

Qualifications:  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Must have knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies.

Length of Contract:  12 Month Full Time- 260 Days Per Year 

Immediate Supervisor:  Director of Maintenance/ Working Custodial Supervisor 

General Job Description:  Custodians work to create a clean, orderly, and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities on buildings and grounds.

Specific Job Functions:  Custodian:

1. Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
2. Performs routine maintenance activities.
3. Performs heavy cleaning duties- Sweeps, Mops, Scrubs, or Vacuums floors.  Gathers and empties trash.
4. Scrubs, Sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
5. Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.  Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
6. Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instruction.
7. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
8. Shampoos or steam cleans carpets and rugs.
9. Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
10. Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
11. Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time, Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours, Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), climb ladders, and work at particular heights.
12. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
13. Contributes to the overall success of the assigned department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Evaluation:  

Will have yearly evaluations by the immediate supervisor.
